This is a funny question. I would say, it is a backward question. One of limitations of VB theory is it can not explain the splitting energy of d electrons of transition metal in the complexes. Why do people want to use VB for transition metal complexes ?. Anyway, you can think about dsp3 and d2sp3 hybridization.
